The Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain is about 77 miles southwest of Atlanta. According to Pine Mountain Wild Animal Safari's website, the park remained closed because of the storm damage. USA TODAY reached out to Wild Animal Safari on Monday for a statement. The Troup County Sheriff's Office confirmed both tigers were recaptured. The animals were "found, tranquilized, and safely returned to a secure enclosure," the park wrote. But several animal enclosures were breached by the storms. Two tigers escaped from an animal park in Georgia after tornadoes struck the area Sunday. I did not get its photos and tried not to look at it, lol. ![]() Of course, if you know anything about male peacocks with a crush, you know that every time I’d turn towards it to take a photo, it would come towards me. I think it had a crush on me, to be honest. I even had a friendly peacock that followed me around the entire time. They came right up to the fence and followed me from one exhibit to the next as far as their fence allowed. There’s not a whole lot of animals at this time but the kids will really enjoy seeing them all up close. There is also a little walk-thru zoo that I checked out while I was there. ![]() They sell animal food suitable for all of the animals in the office where you get your tickets. All of the animals would stick their heads in the car windows to get a treat. No matter how smelly it was, I’m glad I did not take my own because it was worse when I ended my tour thru the safari. Cons to this are the strong animal smell of their vehicles plus it was a little pricey to rent their vehicle (which I would still choose to do). Pros to this are, in case any animal decides to get too close it could cause a dent in your vehicle. I rented one of their safari cars with bars on the windows and I highly recommend doing that unless you want animal slobber all in your vehicle. I didn’t feel threatened by the animals at any time, although they’re bigger than I thought they’d be, lol. I went alone on my first trip to the Wild Animal Safari to see how safe it was for kids (I’m overly protective) and I’m happy to say that I’m definitely going to take the grandkids next time. Because I’m a huge nature lover, I knew I would really enjoy a safari. I do try to do things on my bucket list but I also like to be sporadic and find new places to visit. I had researched things to do that I’ve not already done on my many trips to Callaway Gardens and I found the Safari online. I decided to spend a few days and grab some much-needed rest and relaxation to see some fun sights, at the famous Mountain Creek Inn at Callaway Gardens and Resort, and on my first day there, I headed up to the Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain Georgia. Not only that, you can feed them from the comfort of your car (or theirs). If you live in Georgia and are anywhere near the Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain Georgia, you really should pack up the family and visit this fun place that puts you right smack dab in the midst of wild animals. I went in the middle of winter but I think it’s a perfect place to visit any time of the year.
